Defending a Corps Member’s Freedom of Expression

After reports that an NYSC official threatened Ms. Uguamaye into taking down her comments on the economic hardship facing Nigerians, LACIVLER formally demanded that the NYSC reaffirm corps members' rights under Section 39(1) of the Constitution and investigate the official involved.

Corps members speak as citizens. Internal regulations cannot override the constitutional right to free expression.
